Frequently Asked Questions

Maybe we have the answer to your questions about specialised fencing here.

FA
  • How big should a round yard be?

Round yard sizes vary depending on your training goals. A 12–18 metre diameter is common — smaller for lunging and initial groundwork, larger if you’re riding inside it.

Height matters too: 1.5 to 1.8 metres is a good range to stop horses from trying to jump out. The fence should have smooth surfaces with no sharp edges or gaps.

Timber rails, rubber belting and steel panels are all used depending on your budget and style.

  • Is sighter wire fencing safe for horses?

Yes, sighter wire fencing is designed with horse safety in mind. The wire is usually made from high-strength polymer or coated cable with some visibility, so horses are less likely to run into it.

Many people pair sighter wire with electric fencing to discourage leaning or testing the boundaries. It’s also flexible enough to reduce injury if a horse does come into contact with it.

  • What’s the difference between sighter wire and electric fencing?

Sighter wire is a visible barrier made from coated wire or polymer designed to prevent animals from accidentally running into fences. It doesn’t deliver a shock.

Electric fencing, on the other hand, sends a mild current through the wire to train animals to stay clear.

The combo provides a safe and effective containment system, especially for horses and cattle.

Horse Arenas Built to Last

Arenas cop a fair bit of wear — weather, hooves and time can all do damage fast if the build isn’t right. Quality horse arena fencing not only protects your horses but also creates a space that works with how you ride and train.

Good footing, clear boundaries and no weak spots mean you get more time in the saddle, less time doing repairs.

Are you setting up your first paddock or upgrading to something sturdier? Then invest in a solid arena setup that pays off in the long run.

Round Yards with Equestrian Sense

Getting a round yard just right means thinking like a horse. We build round yards that strike the right balance between strength and safety. The size, height and materials all matter; your horse needs to feel secure, but not boxed in. If you're starting colts or fine-tuning groundwork, we’ll help you choose a design that works with your training goals. Smooth edges, no exposed nails and tough builds—there’s no cutting corners here.

Sighter Wire Fences That Blend In

Got horses in large paddocks or shared rural blocks? Sighter wire fences offer a clean look that’s visible enough to prevent accidents, but won’t dominate your view. These fences are great for boundary lines or larger areas where visibility and containment both matter. Often used with electric wire, making these fences both a mental and physical barrier for your animals.

Cattle Yard Fencing Keeping Livestock In

When you’re working cattle, you need yards that hold their ground. Cattle yards see high pressure during mustering and loading, so the layout and materials have to be spot on. From drafting pens to crush runs and loading ramps, a well-built yard makes life easier — and safer — for both people and livestock.

Paling Fences with Street Appeal

Not everything we build is out in the paddock. Sometimes you just need a good-looking fence to mark your boundary or keep the dog in. Paling fences are a great choice for homes and acreages; they offer privacy, noise reduction and a tidy look. We can match existing fencing or build fresh with treated timber for longer life.

Security Fencing for Easier Sleeping

If you’ve got something worth protecting, don’t leave it to chance. Security fencing ramps up the deterrent factor and puts a clear line between public and private. From chain mesh with barbed wire to more discreet fencing for acreage or sheds, we can recommend options that balance strength with subtlety.
